Introducing Playback Rental Previews. Now you can get a full MultiTrack preview of an entire song in the Playback app, before spending a rental to unlock the tracks for performance use. It's super simple to get started, the the previews are already included in your Playback Rentals subscription!

Before Getting Started:

What is a Playback Rental Preview?
A Playback Rental Preview allows access to a song's tracks for 30 days. Every track in any key, available in Playback to setup arrangements, mixes and more. Playback Rental Previews will contain a watermark and are limited to a single mono output. The song can be rented at any point to remove the preview limitations.

How many songs can I preview?

Playback Rental Previews are granted based on the Playback Rentals subscription tier. For every rental granted, there is one rental preview granted. If you're on an annual 16/month rental plan (208 rentals), you'll receive the same amount of Rental Previews; 208.

Are Playback Rental Previews device specific?
Unlike Playback Rentals, Playback Rental Previews are not device specific, and once unlocked, any admin or user with Playback Rentals permission and a Playback Premium seat from the organization, can access the Playback Rental previews on their own device(s).

Do Playback Rental Previews cost any more money? Can I get more Playback Rental Previews?
Playback Rental Previews are connected to the Playback Rentals tier. Increasing your Playback Rentals tier is the only way to add more Playback Rental Previews.

How to add a Playback Rental Preview

Adding a Playback Rental Preview is simple. Simply select the "Preview" tab when loading or adding the songs or setlists into Playback.

When Adding new songs to a setlist in Playback

Before adding the song rental, just select the "Preview" tab. Then select all of your arrangement settings, and then click "Preview" to start the download of the preview tracks. The preview will immediately start to download all of the preview tracks.

If the "Preview" tab is not showing on your device, please make sure you meeting the following requirements:

  • Playback app is up to date on the most recent version (8.5.0 or higher)

  • You are assigned Playback Rental Permission from the People Page on MultiTracks.com

  • You are assigned a Playback Premium seat from the People Page on MultiTracks.com

When loading an already created setlist

When loading a setlist with content that you don't own, or haven't rented yet, you'll be prompted to rent or preview the content. The popup will look like this, with options to either rent the songs for the next 7 days, or preview the content for 30 days. Select the "Preview" tab, and then use the selections for each song to choose which songs to load previews for. Confirm the usage at the bottom is as expected, and then click "Continue" to spend those previews.

Processing Time for Playback Rental Previews
Rental Previews are processed similarly to full Playback Rentals; They're processed individually per song for each customer a single time for each customer. When previewing the song again in the future, no processing will be required. Typical processing time for a Playback Preview is 3-6 minutes, but may be longer on peak times.

How to use Rental Previews in Playback

Once loaded into Playback, Rental Previews can be used just like any other song track, to plan your setlist including; transitions, automations, mix settings, arrangement, and more!

Click and Guide Fader Restrictions

The click and guide tracks cannot be muted, and the Click bus and guide volume controls are restricted to 50%-100% volume. This is an intentional restriction when using a Playback Rental Preview.

Note: Saving the setlist or named arrangement with a Playback Rental preview will also save the click and guide fader mix in it's state to that setlist or arrangement.

Unlocking the full Playback Rental from the Rental Preview

When ready to rent the song after the rental preview is loaded, enter Setlist Edit mode, open the song edit menu, and select the "Rentals" tab and then the "Rent" button in the top-right of the song's edit menu. After confirmation, this will then spend the rental to unlock the full song with no limitations on that specific device for 7 days.
