Trimming Playback song sections is currently only available in Playback version 8.3.0 which is in closed beta.

Before getting started

  • Trimming Song Sections in Playback requires Playback version 8.2.0 or newer.

  • Trimming song sections requires a Playback Premium seat.

Notable Information

  • Song sections in Playback can be trimmed down by the individual beat in a measure.

  • A song section cannot be trimmed to be (in total) less than a single measure. A song section must be at least one full measure according to the song's time signature.

  • Trimming a Song Section in Playback will not currently impact the chart data in the ChartBuilder app.

How To Trim Song Sections in Playback

  1. To access the new "Edit Song Section" menu first, enter the main "Setlist/Song Map" edit mode by clicking "Edit" in the top-right corner of the Playback app interface, and then selecting "Setlist/Song Map" edit mode from the edit menu drawer that's revealed. Then tap on a song section circle icon (in the top-left of any song section waveform) to open the "Edit Song Section" menu for that specific song section.

  2. Select "Trim Section" in the Edit Song Section menu to enter trim edit mode for that song section.

  3. A new yellow box is shown around the selected song section, allowing the user to shorten the length of the song section by each individual beat. Use the two side bars to shorten the song section.
Note: A song section cannot be shortened to be smaller than one measure.

  4. Then select "Trim" to complete the trim of the song section.
A greyed-out visualization of the trimmed section will show only while in Edit Mode. Click "Done" to exit edit mode, and the trimmed measures will be removed from the waveform grid.
