What you'll need before getting started:
An active Cloud Pro, Live Bundle, or MultiTracks One subscription.
An audio file that is the length you need for your cloud song. (A five minute audio file is provided as an option below).
The quick concept introduction:
Since it is not currently possible to create a custom click and guide natively in the Playback app, Cloud Songs can be used in Playback to create your own. In this guide we will upload to audio files in a zip file as stems to the song and will label those stems as "Click" and "Guide (Dynamic)." When we do this, the audio in the tracks will not be played or heard in Playback, so the content of the stems you upload does not matter, only the length.
Creating the Cloud Song
Preparing tracks to upload:
Determine the length the song needs to be.
This can be accomplished in many different ways. Two quick ways would be using a reference track or original song from your streaming platform of choice to find the length of the song, or you can calculate the number of bars, in the key and time signature, and get the timecode from a DAW. You can always trim off ending audio if you need in the Playback app.Get two Audio Files prepared
Use any audio file that has at least some type of audio in it at some point, and duplicate the audio file so you have two files. Or use two separate audio files of different lengths. Ensure the files meet the cloud upload requirements (Stereo audio files that are 44.1kHz Sample rate, and 16 Bit depth).
The length of the longest track will determine the length of the cloud song.
The audio in the files is not relevant, because it will be removed/replaced in the Playback app
If your song is less than or close to 5 minutes in length, you can use the placeholder guide audio files at the bottom of this article.
Upload the Audio files to your cloud song
Create a cloud song on MultiTracks.com, setting your exact tempo and time signature.
Zip the two files into a single zip folder, and upload to the newly created cloud song on the website on MultiTracks.com.
Follow the 📖How To Upload Cloud Song Tracks for further info on this step.
Configure the tracks on the website
Using the drop-down menu in the cloud song tracks tab, label one of the audio files as "Guide (Dyanmic)" and set the other audio file name to "Click."
Building the song in Playback
First, ensure you're using one of the "Built-in" playback click sounds, or a custom uploaded click sound, and not the main "Downloaded" click sound in Playback's "Click Sound" settings. This setting is located in the "Settings" -> "General."
Then load your new cloud song into a Playback setlist, build song sections using the "Cloud Song Section Edit Mode," and you'll now have a customer cloud song click and guide. For more song section creation info see 📖How To | Create and Edit Cloud Song Sections in Playback.
